Budding Snow, Moon of Ice
electronic sounds in celebration of the moons in february
This was made in celebration of February for Natalia Beylis’ Sofia Records.
Here are her notes from the original release:
"The moon is a friend for the lonesome to talk to." Carl Sandburg
Calendar of Moons: A compilation of songs inspired by the full moon
The full moon has many names. Almost as though with every month, a different moon greets us in the sky.
For this compilation, I asked eleven friends to write a track inspired by a particular full moon name and I wrote one myself.
At the end of the tape and included with the download there is a bonus moon, a 13th moon track which was recorded in a tunnel beneath a castle under the first full moon of January 2014 with dogs splashing through the pools of water in which we stood.
This is the first release on Sofia Records, a tiny label with tiny editions of recordings made by the people around me.
Here is a list of the different names by which the full moon is known in different cultures.
